Ferro chrome is an alloy of iron and chromium generally containing 58% to 80 % chromium by weight. The major use of Ferro-chrome is in manufacturing of Stainless steel, low carbon ferrochrome is added to steel where chromium percentage needs to be adjusted without affecting the carbon levels. Chromium provides high corrosion resistance to the steel even at high temperatures. Chromium also increases the hardness and toughness of steel. The average chromium content in stainless steel is 18%.
